Pulsed-Current-Induced Domain Wall Propagation in Permalloy Patterns Observed Using Magnetic Force Microscope

چکیده
Pulsed-current controlled wall motion in 20 m wide 200 m long 160 nm thick patterned Permalloy strips was studied using magnetic force microscopy. By sequential imaging, the displacement of Bloch walls as far as 200 m along the strip was observed. The direction of motion was in the same direction as the carrier velocity, which reversed with current polarity. The displacement per pulse was dependent upon the sample thickness and current density, which suggests that the mechanism is a combination of s-d exchange and hydromagnetic domain drag forces.

Direct observation of high velocity current induced domain wall motion
We study fast vortex wall propagation in Permalloy wires induced by 3 ns short current pulses with sub 100 ps rise time using high resolution magnetic imaging at zero field. We find a constant domain wall displacement after each current pulse as well as current induced domain wall structure changes, even at these very short timescales. The domain wall velocities are found to be above 100 m/s an...
متن کاملObservation of magnetization reversal of thin-film permalloy nanostructures using ballistic electron magnetic microscopy
We have imaged the magnetization reversal process of thin-film permalloy (Ni80Fe20) nanostructures using ballistic electron magnetic microscopy. Their switching behavior is often influenced by the formation of end domains and the subsequent domain-wall propagation under application of a magnetic field. Occasionally, this process leads to the formation of a 360° domain wall that is stable in fie...

Magnetic force microscope ( MFM ) is a powerful technique for mapping the magnetic force gradient above the sample surface. Herein, single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) were used to fabricate MFM probe by dielectrophoresis method which is a reproducible and cost-effective technique. The effect of induced voltage on the deposition manner of carbon nanotubes (CNT) on the atomic force microscope (...

Studying the interaction of spin-polarized currents with the magnetization configuration is of high interest due to the possible applications and the novel physics involved. High-resolution magnetic imaging is one of the key techniques necessary for a better understanding of these effects. Here, we present an extension to a magnetic microscope that allows for in situ current injection into the ...

Magnetization Dynamics in Racetrack Memory Various devices have been proposed which use magnetic domain walls (DWs) in nano-sized magnetic structures to perform logic operations or store information. In particularin ‘Racetrack memory’ bits of information represented by DWs are shifted in amagnetic wire to be stored. For these memory and logic devices to be successful, greatcontr...
